Mountain people is a personal project from Viticult, who wanted to contribute to the local NSW wine-making scene, to push the boundaries, or at least lean on them. All fruit is sourced from Mount Canobolas in the region of Orange, an extinct volcano with volcanic soils and upper reaches covered in bush, home to Australia’s highest vineyards.

Farmed by Laurence & Susan Mockler in the foothills of Mount Canobolas. Some serious elevation here at 950m. The soils are basalt, originating from flows off the Mountain. Half of the wine was aged on it’s own skins, as well at the introduction of skins from Gewurztraminer for aromatics and structure. Oxidatively handled juice, wild ferment, 4 months in old barrels, unfiltered, unfined. 282 cases made
